Light a candle for Buddy.
Disclaimer--I used to know how to do this but apparently I no longer have a clue. the point is to provide a link to the "group" of candles. So anyone who feels so inclined can click to light a virtual candle, and all of these candles willl appear on one page of virtual candles just for Buddy. But I screwed something up. But if you click the first of the candles with the name "Renee" you can see the message I left there. Messages are optional--just the sight of many (virtual) candles flickering can be quite a powerful visual. And, at least for me, seeing a visual representation of an outpouring of support has been a real comfort in times of need.
This link should take you to the "Buddy" page. Click on a candle that is not already lit, and you may leave a brief message if you wish.
The message is optional--I think the real power of this page is the visual impact of seeing the support that is pouring out from so many people, from so many places. The internet can seem really impersonal at time, but there is also something tremendously powerful and beautiful about the way it can bring people together. And the way we can rally together and lift each other up in times of need. For me, that makes it less intangible and nebulous--and much more REAL and human.
Buddy's human companion has stated on Facebook that he would prefer not to have his Facebook inbox filled with messages of sympathy. So I am doing my best to respect that, and not including his name here. Nonetheless, if you would like to express your support--especially if you've "been there" and lost a beloved pet, you can click this link and light a virtual candle in memory/honor of Buddy. You are given the option of "signing" your candle, but are limited to 5 letters/characters. (So I kind of lucked out having a name that is exactly 5 letters long--as did Buddy.)
